Emirati Hummus Recipe

Hummus is a well-known Middle-Eastern dip prepared from boiled Chickpeas, tahini sauce, and lemon juice. So tasty and appetizing!!! It is generally served as an appetizer with pita bread and satisfies the taste buds of foodies. The word Hummus accurately translates the chickpeas from Arabic. However, it is believed that this meal belongs to the Shami region (Lebanon/ Syria/ Palestine/ Jordan). Healthy and scrumptious hummus is quick and easy to make at home. So, if can’t wait anymore. Try this Emirati Hummus recipe and enjoy the unique taste at your home.

Hummus

 

Ingredients:

  • Chickpeas —- 1 Can (15 ounces)
  • Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice —- 1/4 Cup (about 1-2 large lemons)
  • Tahini paste(Sesame Seeds) —- 1/4 Cup
  • Garlic Cloves, crushed —- 1/2 – 1
  • Olive Oil —- 2 Tablespoons Hummus
  • Salt —- 1 Teaspoon
  • Black Pepper, ground —- 1 Teaspoon
  • Water —- 3 Tablespoons

For Garnishing: 

  • Paprika —- 1 Teaspoon
  • Olive oil —- 1 tablespoon
  • Mint Leaves and finely chopped parsley

Servings: 4-5

Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes

Directions:

  1. Soak the chickpeas for a few hours, while a better soak is in the evening if you want to make hummus in the morning.
  2. Add the soaked chickpeas and water in a deep saucepan and boil them until chickpeas are tender.
  3. Place the tahini paste and lemon juice in a large food processor and blend them for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the olive oil, crushed garlic, salt and pepper to the mixture. Process it again for almost 30 seconds.
  5. Add boiled chickpeas to the processor and grind for a few minute. While processing, add some water and process on high speed until the desired mixture is made.
  6. Pour this delicious hummus in a plastic container and cover it tightly, and refrigerate for several hours, normally the best time is up to 7 days.

Note:

  • Garnish this Yummy hummus by sprinkling paprika, parsley & mint leaves, and olive oil.
  • Serve it with warm pita bread or pita chips. Both have the heavenly taste with Hummus.
