Tabbouleh Recipe – Learn to Make This Middle Eastern Salad

Tabbouleh- a vegetarian version of Arabian Cuisine!! This dish is a herb salad, made from tomatoes, onions, cucumber, and seasoned with lemon juice and fresh mint leaves. The addition of Cinnamon and black pepper gives a distinctive taste to this recipe of the fresh parsley salad. It is very delicious and nutritious as the bulgur is rich in fiber and the parsley is a great source of vitamin C. This Middle Eastern salad not only provides various health benefits but also satisfies the hunger in a balanced way. It is an ideal diet for those who want to lose weight.

Tabbouleh is a traditional Arabic food in many Middle Eastern countries. It is also very popular in the United States and all over the world. Everyone loves this delectable salad and almost everyone serves again and again this healthful diet. You can sever this tasty salad with any meal or by itself. Ingredients:

  • Fine Bulgur wheat (cracked wheat) —- 1/2 cup
  • Ripe Tomatoes —- 2 very finely diced
  • Parsley leaves —- 6 bunches, finely chopped
  • Onion —- 2 large, finely chopped

  • Fresh mint leaves —- 1 cup, finely chopped
  • Cucumber —- 2, chopped
  • Juice of 4 lemons
  • Ground cinnamon —- 1⁄2 tsp.
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Extra-virgin olive oil —- 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 cups
  • Boiling water —- 1 cup
  • Romaine lettuce —- 1 bunch (separated, washed and dried)
  • Scallion —- 1 bunch, trimmed

Servings: 6-8

Preparation Time: 25 Minutes

Directions:

  1. Soak bulgur in boiling water for 10-15 minutes, drain, and rinse thoroughly.
  2. Place the bulgur in a large bowl, add lemon juice to bulgur, and mix together.
  3. Then add tomatoes, parsley, onion, mint leaves, and cucumber. Mix well.
  4. Season with salt, black pepper, and cinnamon. Sprinkle the olive oil and keep aside at the room temperature until the liquid is absorbed, almost 1 hour.
  5. Garnish it with scallions and romaine lettuce leaves. Serve this mouth-watering tabbouleh with your favorite meal and Enjoy!!!
