Emirati Sambusa Recipe

Sambusa is a flavorsome appetizer that people love to eat in Middle Eastern countries. Every country makes them in their own culinary style, so there are endless variations available for sambusas. Here is an Emirati-style Sambusa recipe. These Sambusas are very easy to make and nutritious with Emirati deliciousness. So Yummy and Enticing!!!

Emirati Sambusas are traditionally made with meat mixture and then deep fried. In UAE and many other Arab countries, these mouth-watering sambusas are served during Ramadan, weddings, parties or whenever you want to eat. Try this recipe and sure to please your family with these Crunchy and Delectable sambusas!!

Ingredients:

  • Spring roll wrappers —- 1 (14 ounces) package
  • Ground beef —- 2 pounds

  • Leek — 1, chopped
  • Onion —- 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic —-1 clove, minced
  • Flour —- 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil —- 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin —– 2 teaspoon
  • Ground cardamom —– 2 teaspoons
  • Salt —- 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper —- 1 teaspoon
  • Water —- 1 tablespoon
  • Oil for frying —- as needed

Yields: 24 Sambusas

Preparation Time: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes

Directions:

  1. Heat two tablespoons olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Then add onion, garlic, and leek, and fry them until the onions are tender.
  2. Add ground beef, and simmer until about halfway done.
  3. Sprinkle cardamom, cumin, salt, and pepper, mix well and cook until beef is browned and tender.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and water, and then make a thick paste.
  5. Fold the spring roll wrappers into the shape of a cone one by one.
  6. Fill the cone with the mixture, close the top, and seal with the flour paste. Make all sambusas at this pattern.
  7. Pour oil into a deep-frying pan. Make sure that the oil is enough to dip the wraps.
  8. Place sambusas one by one and fry them a few minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve these Mouth-watering Sambusas with hot sauce or ketchup on a serving platter.
