Shakshouka Recipe – Say Yes to This Healthy Arabic Breakfast

Shakshouka is the most popular Middle Eastern dish that is served by many restaurants in Dubai. It is one of the healthiest breakfast foods in Israel as it is full of nutrients, such as proteins, vitamins, and carbohydrates. Shakshouka is made from eggs baked in a tomato-red pepper sauce, spiced with paprika, cayenne, and cumin, and topped with fresh herbs and Feta cheese. The pleasing aroma and divine taste of this meal attract everyone’s attention and satisfy the taste buds of food lovers.

Ingredients 

  • Eggs —- 8
  • Olive oil —- 2 tablespoons
  • Onion —- 1 large, chopped
  • Tomato paste —- 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin —- 2 teaspoons
  • Ground coriander —- 2 teaspoons
  • Garlic —- 1 clove, crushed
  • Smoked paprika —- 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne —- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Roasted red peppers — 2, diced

  • Chopped tomatoes with juice —- 4 cups
  • Feta cheese —- 2 cup
  • Kosher salt and black pepper —- to taste

For Garnishing:

  • Cilantro leaves — 1/4 cup, diced
  • Parsley leaves —- 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Green dream powder — 2 tablespoons

Servings: 6-8

Preparation Time: 40 Minutes

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat and add the onions and cook until softened and lightly browned.
  3. Add garlic and red peppers and sauté until aromatic, for about 1 minute.
  4. Stir it well, add tomato paste and simmer until it darkens slightly, for almost 2 minutes.
  5. Add the spices and tomatoes with juice and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drizzle salt and black pepper and stir well until the mixture is cooked properly.
  7. With a wooden spoon, make 8 parts in the tomato sauce and crack 1 egg into the section. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, to taste, and stir.
  8. Place the pan in the oven and bake for almost 5 minutes until egg whites are set and yolks are still soft.
  9. Once done, remove from the oven and sprinkle with the Feta cheese, green dream powder and freshly chopped parsley and cilantro.
  10. Serve this super delicious Shakshouka with chewy toasted bread and hot sauce. Enjoy this mouth-watering meal!
