Check Out This Emirati Ligamat Recipe

Ligamat or Luqaimat is one of the most popular Emirati dessert dishes. People love to eat this anytime they like. Most people serve this as a breakfast or a night dessert. This sweet dish contains small dumplings that are made with milk, yogurt, flour, yeast and saffron, deep fried in vegetable oil and drizzled with yummy date syrup.

If you want to impress your loved one or to give a treat to your family or friend, you can make this Delicious ligamat or luqaimat. Here, I would like to share with you a simple Ligamat recipe that is very easy to make. Share your happiness with delectable, mouth-watering sweet dish!!

Ingredients:

  • Flour —– 2 & 1/2 cups
  • Warm milk —- 2 or 2 1/4 cups
  • Yeast —- 1 tablespoon
  • Yogurt —- 3 tablespoons
  • Cornflour —- 3 tablespoons
  • Salt —- 1 teaspoon
  • 2 pinch of saffron
  • Cardamom seeds —- 2 cloves
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Date syrup

Servings: 8

Preparation Time: 25 Minutes

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, place the flour, yeast, salt, cornflour, saffron, and cardamom.
  2. Add milk and yoghurt in them and mix well until the mixture is thicker just like a pancake batter. Keep in mind that the mixture should not be too thick or watery.
  3. Set aside this mixture in a warm place for about half an hour.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot, drop a teaspoon full of the mixture and fry it until golden brown. Repeat this and make small dumplings from this batter.
  5. When they are tender, drain the oil and put the dumplings immediately into the date syrup and dip them well.
  6. When dumplings’ coating is completed, remove them from the syrup.
  7. Place them on a serving dish and sprinkle sesame seeds over. Enjoy this Lip-smacking Ligamat.
