Therefore, it is advised that you should not eat certain seafood including mackerel, sardines, anchovies, herring, and scallops on a regular basis. However, you can eat fish and other low-purine seafood as they are health-giving and may not lead to the risk of gout.

Allah Almighty says in Surah Al-Maa’idah, “Lawful to you is (the pursuit of) water-game and its use for food- for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel.” It means that all kinds of seafood are permitted (Halal) to eat for Muslims, whether it is animal or plant. It does not matter whether they are alive or dead.

In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah Almighty says: “Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you.” So, there are few exceptions in this case. For example, crocodiles and frogs are forbidden (Haram) to eat by Muslims. Flake, Crayfish, Marlin, Lobster, Oyster, Octopus, Shark, Snake Mackerels, Swordfish, and Squid, etc. are also Haram in Islam because they have poisonous compounds that are harmful to human beings. However, you can eat Anchovies, Herring, Mackerel (except for snake mackerel), Prawns, Salmon, Sardines, Shrimp, Tuna, Whitefish and redfish as they are safe and Halal in our religion.
