Manti Recipe – Give a Try to these Turkish Dumplings Today

Turkish dumplings are called Manti, commonly served in Turkey and many Middle Eastern countries. It is one of the most delicious dishes for which everyone craves for any time. Here is a Manti recipe which is one of my favourites. It is not easy to prepare, as it takes a plenty of time, but I guarantee that it’s worth the effort. The scrumptious Manti or dumplings are made with flour dough spiced with ground meat and onion. These tiny treasures are topped with garlicky yogurt and tomato sauce which make these dumplings taste divine and mind blowing. This mouth-watering dish is also seasoned with hot pepper oil which adds another layer of deliciousness in these dumplings.

This homemade Manti recipe not only tickles the taste buds but also satiates the appetite. Must give a try to this lip-smacking dish in this holy month of Ramadan! When you serve a bowl of Manti at Iftar time, I’m sure you’ll feel the love for this flavorful meal.


  • Flour —– 2 cups

  • Kosher Salt —– 1/2 teaspoon
  • Eggs —– 2
  • Water —– 1/2 teaspoon or as needed
  • Onions —– 2, peeled
  • Ground beef —- 1/2 pound
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil —- 3 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes —– 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic —– 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Plain yogurt —– 1 (8 ounces) container
  • Tomato paste —– 1 (6-ounce) can

Servings: 4

Preparation Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes


  1. Preheat the oven to 325 F°.
  2. In a mixing bowl, place the flour and salt in it and combine well. Add water and eggs in the flour and mix properly with your hands. Add more water if you needed, to make a soft dough. Squeeze the dough for 5-10 minutes until you get a firm and smooth dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and keep aside for at least 30 minutes.

  1. Peel the onions and place them in a food processor and blend them. Combine the blended onion, ground beef, salt, and pepper in a deep bowl. Mix the meat properly with a spoon until it is mashed.
  2. Cut the dough into two portions, take one piece and place on lightly floured surface. Then, flatten the dough by using a rolling pin and cut it into a rectangle shape into 2-inch squares with a knife.

  1. Fill about two teaspoons of the meat mixture in the center of the each square. Then seal the dumplings by gathering the edges of the dough and pressing them with your fingers at the top to make a bundle.

  1. Place all dumplings on a floured plate and season them with more flour over the dumplings, so that they prevent sticking. Repeat the same steps with the second piece of the dough and make dumplings.
  2. Bake Manti in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, until the dumplings just start to brown.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a small skillet over a low heat. Add red pepper flakes and them until the flakes have started to colour the oil. Remove from the heat and keep warm.
  4. Stir the yogurt and minced garlic in a bowl and keep aside.
  5. Place the baked dumplings in the boiling salted water and bring to a boil for 10-12 minutes, until the dumplings are tender. Drain them and place in a serving platter.
  6. Divide Manti into four parts. Sprinkle the tomato and the yogurt sauce over the Manti. Drizzle the Manti with the hot pepper oil. Enjoy!
