Oatmeal Banana Bread Recipe

My favourite breakfast is oatmeal with banana. But many times, I desire to eat something different and at that time I love to prepare oatmeal banana bread. Here, I’m going to share a simple oatmeal banana bread recipe which will give you the best taste of bread. The oatmeal makes it hearty and chewy, while bananas and buttermilk make it moist and sweet.

Oatmeal banana bread is extremely versatile, as there are some variations available for it. For example, you can add yogurt instead of buttermilk, walnut oil rather than vegetable oil and top it with your much-loved nuts and other ingredients. All variations are incredibly super and give a unique taste of bread.

This oatmeal banana bread recipe is completely wholesome. The oatmeal contains fiber and bananas have potassium which can give you a feeling of fullness and energy too. So, give a try to this recipe and enhance the taste of your ordinary breakfast.


  • Wheat Flour —- 1 1⁄2 cups

  • Oats —– 3⁄4 cup
  • Mashed banana —- 1 cup
  • Sugar —- 2⁄3 cup
  • Buttermilk —– 1⁄3 cup
  • Vegetable oil —- 1⁄4 cup
  • Eggs —– 2, beaten
  • Baking powder —— 1 1⁄2 teaspoons
  • Baking soda —– 1⁄4 teaspoon
  • Salt —- 1⁄4 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon —– ¼ teaspoon
  • Vanilla Extract —– 1 teaspoon
  • Cooking spray

For topping (Optional):

  • Chocolate chips or dark chocolate —– 3/4 cup
  • Crushed coconut —- 3/4 cup
  • Nuts —– 1/2 cup

Servings: 12

Preparation Time: 1 hour 15 minutes


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175 C°), brush an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with cooking oil and set aside.
  2. Mix all dry ingredients (flour, oats, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon) together in a large deep bowl.
  3. Also, combine eggs, mashed bananas, oil, buttermilk and vanilla extract in a separate small bowl.
  4. Pour banana mixture into the dry ingredients and mix gently. Stir continuously until all ingredients are blended.
  5. Pour this mixture into the greased pan and bake for almost 55-60 minutes.
  6. When the batter is tender and soft, remove from oven and cool on the rack for almost 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the bread from the pan and cut into pieces.
  8. Remove the bread from the pan after 15 minutes and cool thoroughly on the rack.
  9. Top this delicious bread with chocolates, crushed coconut, and nuts.
